An Independent Review and 'Test Drive' of the Virta Treatment by diaTribe

Over a year ago, we were approached by diaTribe, a thought leader in diabetes and advocate for improving the lives of those living with the disease. As part of diaTribe’s “Test Drive” series, they wanted to follow and eventually chronicle the experience of five Virta patients.

The idea created a path to showcase our transformational outcomes and patient-centered approach, but it came with some risk for Virta. We had to commit to getting reviews from five patients before they started the treatment without knowing how their actual results would turn out. Additionally, it was made clear from the start that Virta would have no input on the contents of any article that was written.

Yet, this was a unique opportunity for an independent, unbiased look at the Virta Treatment. We are thrilled that diaTribe recently published the testimonials of the patients who participated. Here are a few highlights from the summary results:

  • "Before starting Virta, four of the five participants were using diabetes medications. Three users have eliminated all diabetes medications and one has reduced insulin requirements by 78% (from 80 units per day to 18 units per day).”
  • "Two of the participants described Virta as 'life-changing.' The positive experience with Virta even led one participant to suggest that the Virta platform has the potential to vastly reduce the burden of diabetes on society."
  • "All 5 participants lowered their A1C...The largest A1C drop was 2.1%!"

You can find the full article here.

We are immensely proud of these results and our patients, yet we know we have a long, long way to go. Our entire team is hard at work providing access to the Virta Treatment to more and more people, while optimizing our Continuous Remote Care model to improve individual results even more.

Thank you again to the diaTribe team, and as always to our patients, who remain an inspiration.
